RAIN or Shine made it two wins in a row by blasting Blackwater Bossing, 107-90, to keep its flickering quarterfinal hopes alive in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup atthe Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Veteran Rey Nambatac scattered a game-high 26 points and rookie Gian Namuyac added 20 points for the Elasto Painters, who outscored the Bossing, 37-23, in the third period to post their second straight win after a dismal 1-6 start.
Beau Belga added 12 points, Gabe Norwood had 10 points and eight rebounds and Mike Nieto and Norbert Torres had nine points apiece for the E-Painters, who also won over NLEX, 96-86, last Saturday.
"I said being consistent is a challenge and being excellent is a habit and could we make it a habit of being excellent on a back-to-back? It showed tonight," said Rain or Shine coach Chris Gavina.
Despite the win, the E-Painters face a must-win situation against Terrafirma on Saturday and Magnolia next Wednesday to remain in contention.
Later, Meralco started strong to roll back Barangay Ginebra, 90-73, yo move into a three-way logjam for fourth.with Blackwater and Magnolia at 5-3.
Chris Newsome finished with 17 points' seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals for the Nts
Chris Banchero afded 17 points, Cliff Hodge contributed14 points eight rebounds, four blocks, and two steals, Bong Quinto got10 points and five assists, and Aaron Black had nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
Scottie Thompson led the way with14 points, five rebounds and four assists for Ginebra, which dropped to 6-3 overall.
Nard Pinto had 12 points and Japeth Aguilar had a double-double of 11 points and 13 boards for the Kings.
Christian Standhardinger was the only other Ginebra player in double figures with 10.
