MANILA, Philippines – The B-boys and B-girls Association of the Philippines (BBAP) has selected their top nominees of Filipino breakers to represent the Philippines and win gold at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Last June 25, the BBAP successfully conducted its first live qualification and ranking event for its pioneering pro league at the Allstars Dance School South, Las Piñas.
They gathered passionate break dancers all over the country, listing Davao, Dumaguete, and Baguio to seek potential national team members.
Of the Seventeen B-boys and five b-girls who competed against their respective category in a breakdance battle, ten were selected as top contenders and will continue their qualifying journey.
The top six for the b-boys section are:
Allen "Allen" Añas
Charles Smith "C-Nasty" Vergara
Gabriel "Gabster" Leviste
Ilyvm "Dudut" Gabriel
Michael "Swurl" Baldomero
Jesse "Reflex."
The top contenders for the female category are:
Yani "Yani" Talam
Debbie "Hate" Mahinay
Reynalyn "Lady Cheeze" Palattao
Ndrhea "Dei" Archivido
The BBAP is planning to discover more breakers as they set to open additional training and qualification events not only in Manila but across the country in the next few months.
The selected b-boy and b-girls will still have to head into another qualifying rounds to be chosen as Filipino representatives at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The BBAP also aims to promote breakdancing to more Filipinos as it is now included as a sport in the Olympics – the support from various groups and sponsors will help the Filipino artists achieve their goal of winning an Olympic gold medal for the country.
