MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that the academic year 2022-2023 for public schools will begin on August 22 and will end on July 7, 2023.
DepEd posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday, Department Order No.34, signed by Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte, which details the school schedule and activities for the next school year.
"The School Year 2022-2023 shall formally start on Monday, August 22, 2022, and end on Friday, July 7, 2023. There shall be a total of 203 days or as may be determined by further issuance/s in case of changes in the school calendar due to unforeseen circumstances."

The enrollment period will run from July 25 to August 22, while Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela will be held from August 1 to 26 and August 15, respectively.
Christmas vacation is scheduled for December 19 to January 4, 2023.
The agency further stated that the school year 2023-2024 will begin on August 28, 2023, and end on June 28, 2024, and school year 2024-2025 will begin on August 26, 2024, and end on June 27, 2025.
Face-to-Face Classes
The implementation of face-to-face classes in both public and private institutions will also be required in November, and no school may employ remote or blended learning except those using Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM).
For now, the department is letting other schools ease into the change by choosing one of the following:
Five days of in-person classes
Blended learning (three days in-person and two days of distance learning, followed by four days of in-person and one-day distance learning)
Full-distance learning
According to DepEd, this policy must only be enforced by schools until October 31, 2022.
The department also noted that holding in-person classes "shall apply regardless of COVID-19 alert level."
However, DepEd says they will cooperate if health officials need to halt its implementation.
DepEd likewise recommends that schools give psychosocial assistance during the first week of implementation due to the increased stress and obstacles that students would encounter due to the transition.
