Maine Mendoza has shared a glimpse of what happened when Arjo Atayde proposed to her last month — and netizens just could not contain their kilig over the couple's heartfelt message for each other.
Before the Quezon City 1st district Rep. knelt to ask Maine the question, he made a short speech recounting the challenges they had to face at the beginning of their relationship, which affected not only the couple but their families as well.
"When our relationship started both our families had to take in a lot of punches and still they never stopped us. For that, I'm very thankful for both sides of our families... because at the end of the day, I just wanted to love you truly," Arjo said.
"I'm at the point of my life where I don't know loving someone as much as I love you is even possible. It's too much, it's so much. I can't even explain. I've had this for more than a year. I've always been sure of you."
Meanwhile, Maine said that she has always felt like a princess because of the way Arjo treats her.
"Lagi kong sinasabi, para akong prinsesa sa kaniya. The way he loves and cares for me, parang sobra and sometimes I really ask the Lord what have I done to deserve this kind of love. And I've always prayed to find a man who's gonna love me for who I am and then you came," she told Arjo.
"So I just wanna thank you for loving me the way you do. I wanna thank you for being you, for loving my family, for loving my friends, for loving me."
Actress Dianne Medina said she could not hold back her tears while watching the video. "Iyak ako nang iyak!!!! Congrats Arjo and Maine (bes) hahaha naalala ko shoot natin kaka engage lang namin ni Rodjun nun! Super happy for you! Sobrang iyak ko sa video."
Other netizens have also expressed support for the newly-engaged couple.
"Napakamagical. Naiyak ako. Dati ayoko kay Arjo para sayo kasi solid AlDub ako. But he's making you happy, that's why tinanggap ko na kayo talaga ang para sa isa't isa," one said.
