The Philippine Army (PA) or Hukbong Katihan ng Pilipinas is the principal and oldest branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) located at Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City Metro Manila. With 11 divisions and special units scattered in the islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao; the PA is responsible for defending the country through land combat and operations.
For 122 years, the Philippine Army served as the protector of the Filipinos and a key player of nation building. Today, the Philippine Army continues to innovate its forces and victor against all battles and threats to serve the people and secure the land. The mission of the Philippine Army is to "organize, train, equip, deploy and sustain ground forces in the conduct of support to operations to "win the peace" in order to help the Filipino nation create an environment conducive for sustainable development and just and lasting peace".

What are the Qualifications?
Officer Candidates that will undergo Officer Candidate Course (OCC) must possess the following qualifications:
Holder of a baccalaureate degree
Natural-born Filipino
21 to 25 years of age upon admission (no age waiver)
Single and never been married; never borne or sired a child
Height of not less than 5'0 ft. (152.4cm) both for male and female, but not more than 6'4'' (193.04 cm)
Of good moral character;
Physically, mentally and psychologically fit for active military service (P1 profile);
Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) raw score of 71 or higher;
Must have passed the Army Qualifying Exam (AQE) and Special Written Exam (SWE) given by the Philippine Army
Must pass the Physical Medical Exam and Physical Fitness Test conducted in the Philippine Army thru PAOSC

About Officer Candidate Course
The Integrated Basic Officer Leader Course is a pre-entry training conducted for Cadets and Officer Candidates to be commissioned into the Regular Force in the Philippine Army ready to deploy as Infantry Platoon Leaders upon completion.There are three (3) main programs in this course namely, the Basic Military Training, Officer Training, and Army Warfighting Functions Training subdivided into seven (7) modules and two (2) additional modules.
The course has a total of 2,008 periods or equivalent to an average of 50 training weeks. It aims to provide progressive, well-rounded, and balanced training that shall equip Cadets and Officer Candidates with the required knowledge, skills, and attributes prior to their commission. This course will meet the demand for producing world-class Amy Officers.
The Location for the Officer Candidate Course is Officer Candidate School, Training and Doctrine Command, PA Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac. It has a duration of 1 year and usually, the Schedule of Training is in June and December of each year.
