Expressing how happy she is to be her true self while in school, a transgender teen thanked the administration of Leyte National High School for allowing her to wear the girls' uniform.
On Facebook, Sessy Maravillo created an appreciation post to thank the school administration; saying she will forever be grateful for such.
"As a transwoman, I will be eternally grateful to Leyte National High School for allowing me to wear a uniform that I am more comfortable with," she expressed in a post that immediately captured the hearts of thousands of people online; generating over 21,000 shares and 122,000 reactions, as of writing.
"I feel the strong and warm support of my school, especially the love of my teachers and their strong regard towards the gender that I have. Being in this ground gives me so much comfort and wings," Sessy expressed in a separate post.
The transwoman hopes to see more schools becoming a safe place for students who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community, "It does not only intend to help in amplifying gender acceptance in our society but, as well, help our fellowmen to build strong confidence within them. Ladies and gentlemen, making our brothers and sisters in land feel safe is not enough, we should also make them feel comfortable. Therefore, I strongly support wearing school uniform according to the student choice or gender and hear the voices of those trans out there seeking for comfort."
"The adoption of gender-neutral uniforms must be one of significant and positive steps toward a compassionate society. We should always remember that forcing clothes on children or students won't make a school better, but a uniform combined with reforms can. Because, I do believe that if our society wants to practice inclusivity, therefore our society must allow the freedom of choice," she continued; gathering thousands of support online.
