The Tourist Rest Area is one of the flagship programs of Secretary Frasco and is grounded on the Department's vision to provide convenience and comfort to tourists. The TRA will highlight the provision of clean restrooms for tourists in transit to different tourist destinations. It will also have a Coffee Shop, Pasalubong and Souvenir Store, Tourist Information Area, and a Charging Station. The TRA in Samal will be situated at the City Hall complex in Penaplata.
"We are constructing this tourist rest area here in Samal in order to provide visitors with a relaxing and comfortable travel as they visit your island. We believe in the potential of Samal to become a key tourist destination in the country," the secretary said in the vernacular during the ceremony in IGaCOS.
IGACOS is a premier tourism destination in Davao Region, famous for its white sand beaches, scuba, snorkeling, and freediving spots, adventure trails, and world-class resorts.
