My mother Nina Kubik lived through the 1933 Stalin famine in Ukraine that killed seven million people through hunger. She was 8 years old at the time. Saturday, Nov 26, 2022 was a day of commemorating this event. Now the Russians are trying to do the same through destroying the nation's water, gas and electricity and plunging the nation into darkness, cold and death. We all watch as a civilized European nation in the 20th century is being taken apart by a barbaric people. LifeNets is working tirelessly in different places in the country to help the people survive the cold and hunger. Thank you for your help! You can help at (http://lifenets.org)
This article appeared in a 1983 issue of the Minnesota Daily News in which my mother Nina Kubik was interviewed about the famine. This was the 50th anniversary of the event and the Russians were just starting to admit that this happened. This famine called "Holodymer" took as many lives as the Jewish Holocaust in WWII.
My mother died almost a year later after the interview in 1984 of leukemia.
