Immediately after I graduated from college, I applied for work at various companies. I did not waste even a moment because I wanted to fulfill my dreams for myself and my family. I am the eldest among three siblings. As the eldest son, I bore the burden of helping my parents raise my brother and sister. I also worked as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Dubai. After a couple of years, I decided to return to the Philippines to practice my degree as an airport technician. I used to work as an aerobridge operator at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal II. Despite my stable income, career opportunities, and being in a romantic relationship, there was a void in my heart that I did not know how to fill. Since I was fascinated with the liturgy, the Holy Mass, the lives of saints, and other church-related matters, I felt God would like me to follow in his footsteps.
In today's gospel, Jesus called Peter and Andrew. The two then left their nets and their businesses behind and followed Jesus. James and John left their father and their business to follow Jesus. Jesus called them to follow him fully. The gospel challenges me, like his apostles, to joyfully respond to Jesus' invitation to become his disciple. Jesus wants all of us. He wants all of our devotion, all of our resources, all of our commitment, all of our hearts, all of our souls, all of our minds, and all of our strength. Jesus always blesses those who truly believe in his works, obey him, and have a strong faith in him. If we follow in Jesus' footsteps, we will discover the true essence of life.

Today's Gospel
Mt 4:18-22
As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers,
Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew,
casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.
He said to them,
"Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."
At once they left their nets and followed him.
He walked along from there and saw two other brothers,
James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John.
They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets.
He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father
and followed him.
