POLICE authorities are looking into three persons, including two Nigerian nationals believed to be behind love scam arrested in Las Piñas City.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said that the three were captured during an operation led by the Anti-Cybercrime Group.
Azurin identified suspects as Leanna Veronica Padua, 23, and the Nigerians as Precious Samuel, 23, and Ushahemva Ijirzua, also 23.
They are facing charges of violating Revised Penal Code, swindling/estafa in relation to Section 5(a) and (b) and Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 also known as "Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012."
The complainant, a 55-year-old female, was allegedly befriended by certain "Philip Brian" on a social media site. They became lovers and continued their conversation via mobile phone application.
It was during their conversations that suspect borrowed P230,000 from her.
The suspect then continued to ask for money from the complainant.
There were eight money transfers made to Leanna Veronica Padua, four transactions that were claimed in Pulang Lupa Uno, Las Piñas City, and another at a mall also in Las Piñas City.
