'memo' source on alleged AFP destab plot identified
By J.Lo
"May mga na-identify na po 'yung ating PNP-ACG 'yung mga source nitong mga dokumento ," Philippine National Police (PNP) said its Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has identified sources of supposed memorandum placing the police force on high alert amid rumors of destabilization plot in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said ACG and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) are looking into social media posts regarding the supposed memo.
Fajardo is not at liberty to divulge findings of the ACG on the matter.
Authorities are investigating unsigned papers and asking explanations from police officers whose names appeared on the documents. Both PNP and AFP have denied rumors of alleged destabilization plot in the military that circulated on social media over the weekend.
According to PNP, heightened alert of the police organization is for activities of the Black Nazarene Feast.
The destabilization rumors and heightened police alert floated after supposed resignations in the Department of National Defense (DND).
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. named Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. as the secretary of DND after its officer-in-charge, Senior Undersecretary Jose Faustino Jr., resigned.
FMJ also earlier appointed General Andres Centino back as AFP chief, replacing his previous appointee, Lieutenant General Bartolome Bacarro, who only served for almost five months.
