Cavaliers back 'courtesy' resignations
By J.Lo
WERE Quezon City Police District and Southern Police District Directors among eleven third level top brass of Philippine National Police (PNP) yet to file courtesy resignation as Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr's deadline is at three (3) days to go.
Church sector hit the two generals for inaction to proliferation of illegal gambling den in their area of responsibilities particularly the corner of West Point and Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City; Barangay Sto. Nino in Paranaque City and Pateros. Gambling dens are maintained by gambling lord Rogelio Mistica Jr.
Alumni of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) appealed to the remaining third-level officers of PNP to submit their courtesy resignations before January 31 deadline.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Police Cavaliers Association Inc. President BGen. Valeriano de Leon said regardless of impending retirement or other factors, obligation of police officials to comply with call to tender courtesy resignation is "an integral part of chain of command, requirement for moral ascendancy to lead, and a must to ensure Filipino people's trust and confidence are kept at all times."
Before new year 2023, Abalos called on full third-level PNP officers, which includes full colonels and generals, to tender their courtesy resignations as government aims to cleanse their ranks of officers with ties to illegal drug syndicates.
He made call upon recommendation of PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr.
Abalos earlier disclosed that only 11 of the 953 senior officers, which include eight colonels and three generals, have yet to submit their courtesy resignations.
Of the 11 officers, eight are due for retirement which, according to the DILG chief, maybe the reason why they're not submitting their courtesy resignations.
