Angkas tapped for MM tours

"We've been wanting to do this for long time," Angkas Chief Executive Officer George Royeca said in a statement… "touring on motorcycle for me is very enriching…like becoming one with your surroundings….you lose yourself in sights and sounds... you get to feel wind and smell air…one of those unforgettable experiences," Department of Tourism (DoT) in National Capital Region (NCR) has partnered with motorcycle-hailing app Angkas to provide tourists with different experience in visiting "hot" spots in Metro Manila.
Angkas will soon launch rolling tours showcase tourist spots in metropolis, with their drivers being tour guides.
App service aims to use Vespa motorcycle for tour, similar to ones used in Hollywood movie "Emily in Paris."
Among places being considered by Angkas and DoT are Intramuros and Binondo in Manila, Poblacion in Makati and Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
"We're building strong collaborations with our private and public stakeholders and making sure all these kinds of extensions and assistance are given to them," DoT-NCR Regional Director Sharlene Zabala stated.
No date has been set for rollout of motorcycle tours, but Royeca hopes their partnership with DoT will "promote local tourism through safe, fast and reliable transportation."
