Feb. 25, 2023 regular working day —Palace
By Nidz Godino
"Consistent with holidays moved in furtherance of holiday economics as contained in Proclamation No. 90 dated November 11, 2022, February 24, 2023 has been declared special non-working holiday to mark Edsa anniversary in lieu of February 25, 2023 regular working day but without diminishing latter's significance," Malacañang clarified February 25, 2023 will no longer be regular holiday after President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. declared February 24 as special non-working holiday.
Through his Proclamation No. 167, FMJ moved February 25 holiday to February 24 "to enable our countrymen to avail of benefits of longer weekend pursuant to principle of holiday economics... provided historical significance of EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary is maintained."
It was on February 25, 1986 when late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., his family, and close associates fled country amid People Power Revolution.
Last year, FMJ signed Proclamation No. 90 to push for holiday economics "aimed at ushering in long weekends to provide Filipinos much-needed opportunity for travel while at the same time, help the government prop up its tourism revenues."
