Rainy season begins in Ph- PAGASA

Widespread rains brought about by Super Typhoon Betty, and Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) over western sections of Visayas and Luzon signified start of rainy season.
State weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) officially declared start of rainy season.
In statement, PAGASA said Monsoon breaks or periods of no rainfall that may last for days or weeks are also possible.
PAGASA further said El Niño phenomenon characterized by abnormal warming of sea surface temperatures in central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean and below-normal rainfall may start in "next couple of months," with higher probability of persisting until first quarter of 2024.
