Sch for deaf, blind named impt cultural property

"It has definitely stood test of time, and as family here in Pasay, we vow to take care of such precious gem," Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano said in statement Philippine National School for Deaf and Blind building in Pasay City was recognized by government as important cultural property.
National Museum of the Philippines made announcement during an unveiling ceremony attended by city government officials. Present during unveiling were officials from National Museum and Nishimura Tokiko, second secretary of economic section of Japan embassy.
Established in 1907, it is pioneer school for handicapped in the country and in Asia, according to school's website.
Rubiano said architecture and overall structure of the building have amazed even most meticulous artists.
"We will do everything that we can to keep it that way," she said.
