Legal opinion on PhilHealth's transfer to OP

"We are waiting for opinion of these agencies for discussion in next TWG," Department of Health (DOH) is seeking legal opinion of relevant government agencies on proposed transfer of Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth)'s jurisdiction to Office of the President.
Technical working group (TWG) of DOH opted to get legal opinions of Department of Justice, Office of the Solicitor General and Office of the Government Corporate Counsel on the matter.
Under Republic Act 7875, PhilHealth is an attached agency of DOH for policy coordination and guidance.
"Legal question being addressed is mainly on plausibility of such transfer, and what legal entanglements may be present that need to be looked into," DOH said..
Aside from legal aspect of proposal, DOH said TWG would also look into technical and strategic aspects of transfer.
