4 cheats death in helicopter crash
By J.Lo
AVIATION authorities are looking into crash landing of helicopter nearly killed four passengers on board. Two pilots and two passengers cheated death when their helicopter crash-landed in banana plantation in Sitio Babahagon in Lantapan, Bukidnon.
Helicopter operated by Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services (PAMAS), was on its way to Mountain View College when accident occurred.
One of the pilots, Jared Hoewing, was forced to make emergency landing when aircraft lost power at 3,000 feet, about five kilometers from airbase.
One of the passengers was sent to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Team from Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) went to crash site to conduct investigation.
CAAP's Laguindingan Tower controllers said PAMAS "did not file flight plan for this operation."
Medical helicopter, also operated by PAMAS, which was reported missing after taking off from Mangsee Island in Balabac, Palawan in March, has not been found.
Helicopter was on its way to Southern Palawan Provincial Hospital in Brooke's Point and was carrying nurse, patient and two other persons aside from pilot.
