There's a special kind of joy from getting out of bed in the morning to be greeted by the adoring smile of your fur baby who has been at your side all night. The unconditional love my fur baby gives me is unmatched.
Here's what I have learned from having a dog, my four-legged companion:

Having a dog makes us more accountable.
Responsibility is one of my fur baby's greatest teachings. As a fur parent, I learned the significance of duties and consistency through the daily routine of rising up early to feed my dog, providing her next meals on time, sanitation, exercising, and giving them the love they deserve.

They give us a sense of purpose.
Having to take care of this beautiful fur baby gives my life meaning. It drives me each day to do what needs to be done as a fur parent. She inspires me to work harder in school to fulfill my desire to spoil her and give her all the treats in the world she deserves.

Be the reason behind someone's smile
Whenever I feel sad, my dog somehow sniffs my mood, and she comes next to me and then rolls over so I can notice her and show her concern. If my alarm doesn't go off in the morning, she licks my face and barks to wake me up.
I can't describe how it makes me feel to come home from school/work and find her waiting for me at the door. No matter how bad my day is, my dog always makes me smile.

Life is easier when you ask for what you want.
One of my dog's greatest lessons is that she will bark at me when hungry. She will bring her toy to me to play with. When she's sad, she sits next to me and demands a belly massage. She solves most of her problems by just asking for what she wants.

I learn empathy from her.
Being a fur parent means constantly being there for my fur baby. The way I handle my fur baby has taught me to be gentler and more protective of the people I care about, too.
