One of the memorable experiences I had during our summer apostolate was the feeding program for street dwellers in Manila. A parish group called "Foodbank" leads the outreach program. The distribution of the food packs usually finishes late at night because the meal preparation itself is laborious. I was astounded by the volunteers' commitment to carry out such selfless deed and their love for those in need. In the Gospel today, God calls us to love Him and our neighbors, especially those who need our help and those who are difficult to love.
By upholding these commandments, we recognize the intrinsic value of persons as God's children. This understanding builds peace, harmony, and acceptance amidst differences. The Gospel reminds us to grow a heart possessed by love, both for God and for our neighbor, and to put that love into action through deeds that uplift and enrich the lives of others.
