Makati still serves 'EMBO' students
By J.Lo
"To be fair, they were asked what they can say about school supplies provided by Taguig…naturally, they will tell the truth…they are accustomed to abundant, high-quality, and long-lasting goods…just handing out old but not broken…that's how good shoes and bags we give are," Makati City Mayor Abby Binay wrote in her column in prominent dailies Makati City government will continue to provide services to 45,000 students of "embo" barangays that have since been declared part of Taguig.
Distribution of school supplies last week is just among services Makati would continue giving its former residents, she said.
Binay also thanked Vice President and Education Secretary Sara DuterteCarpio for allowing Makati City government to distribute supplies to public schools in "embo" barangays.
She also defended parents and students who lamented barangays' transfer to Taguig.
"Everyone is free to express their opinion…and in this matter, I see only one thing: they are not happy… still want quality of service they experienced and tasted in Makati," she added.
In April, Supreme Court (SC) declared with finality that Taguig has jurisdiction over 729-hectare Bonifacio Global City and several barangays.
While SC's court administrator said Taguig needs to secure writ of execution to enforce ruling, Taguig maintains there is no need for it.
