"Forgiveness changes everything, it energizes, empowers, and gives us new ways of looking at things in life. "
It was during my Novitiate while we were having family tree modules. I was invited through the process; in order to recall and revisit my childhood experiences. As far as I can remember, one of the painful experiences was to forgive my father. It's tokes serval years, because I was carrying so much anger towards my father, to the point my relationship with him becomes unhappy and burden. But the inner process helps me to realize that I was only looking at the one side of the reality and was occupied with my own needs.
Dear friends in Christ, while every human person experience emotional and spiritual problems. In fact, no human person is without emotional problems. But our readings today give a chance to look closely at our lives and think about what we might want to change in us. When I was reflecting on our readings; the message is very clear, "about the values of forgiveness".
"Forgiveness changes everything, it energizes, empowers, and gives us new ways of looking at things in life. " When I was truly able to forgive my father - that's the time I came to realize the meaning of peace within my heart and in my mind. I believe all of us may experience different forms of hurt feelings in our life journey. Hence, like in the gospel how the master moved with compassion and forgave the servant, we could also when we
allow the grace to move us to forgive the person or anyone and let go of those pain and hurt feelings from us and others; we can build a community of faith that is open to all.
we are reminded today to prepare a way for the Lord to welcome Him in our hearts and in our community. Because it is in community that we learn to be tolerant of one another and to bear the spirit. It is in community that we are more effective in reaching out to our neighbors in social action or in our mission. It is in community that we celebrate life when we forgive one another from our heart.
The great value which the act of forgiveness can give us is the joy of relating as a community. To give ourselves for others and to share our lives, our gifts and our resources with others, especially those in need. As so many 'weeps' in the face of virus pain and struggles, let's pray that the Holy Spirit will fill our hearts with grace, so that we will all reach out in love and with generosity to those in our community.
So, I hope, so may it be!
