In a bid to strengthen Cebu as an alternative hub to Manila, AirAsia Philippines, one of the Philippines' low-cost airlines successfully brought the festivities, fun, and excitement of Fly Fest to the Queen City of the South last May 28, 2023 in Ayala Center Cebu.
The event, attended by representatives from the Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Office, and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave travelers a glimpse of AirAsia Philippines' huge plan for the Cebu hub.
Attended by travel junkies from Cebu and neighboring provinces including Bohol and Dumaguete, the event outlined how Filipinos are on track to booking international destinations with 4x weekly flights to Taipei, 3x weekly flights to Kuala Lumpur and Seoul,2x weekly flights to Shenzhen beginning June, and daily flights to Tokyo starting July.
AirAsia also eyes to include other international destinations such as Seoul, Taipei, Kaoshiung, Hong Kong, Macao, and Shanghai.
Aside from the international destinations, AirAsia has resumed its 2x daily flights to Boracay and daily Puerto Princesa, and Davao flights from Cebu.
AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said "Now that AirAsia Philippines is on full throttle towards sustaining its Q2 success towards the rest of 2023, we are now offering Cebu via Mactan-Cebu International Airport as an alternative hub to Ninoy Aquino International Airport for Cebuano and Central Visayas travelers planning to fly domestic and abroad.
