NAIA-3 parking lot blast damaged 3 cars

"For the sake of world peace, lot of people will die…to destroy Philippine government, this time it will be done… I'm watching 20 years later of you," certain Takahiro Karasawa with email address takahiro-karasawa@s-juliet.net, introduced himself "Japanese lawyer," warned he "set high-performance bomb in Metro Manila Rail Transit System facility," according to a screenshot of message shared by management of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3).
"Those bombs will explode at approximately 3:34 in the afternoon on Sept. 8,2023," he wrote.
As these developed three vehicles were damaged when still unidentified person threw Molotov bomb at open parking lot of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3).
No one was injured in the incident, being investigated by Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and police Aviation Security Group.
Corporal Manuel Supan said in initial report Toyota Fortuner (NCL-6610), Toyoto Rush (NEV-2485) and Mazda Tribute (NBI-716) were damaged in explosion occurred at around 9:39 in the morning.
MIAA reported Molotov bomb exploded when it hit Fortuner. Glass shards fell on two other vehicles.
Probers are reviewing footage taken by surveillance cameras in the vicinity.
MIAA officer-in-charge Bryan Co has ordered airport security personnel to increase foot and K-9 patrols in public areas and more police visibility around airport's terminals.
Co also called on public to report suspicious-looking persons and unusual movement of people in airport complex.
Department of Transportation (DOTr) formed inter-agency task force to investigate e-mail message claiming that bomb was planted in rail system in Metro Manila.
He also wrote "power to voiceless voice…love to loveless epoch…let there be new epoch."
Sender delivered message to Records Section of Bureau of Plant Industry (recordssection@buplant.da.gov.ph) at 5:02 in the morning.
News outlets in South Korea reported bomb threats e-mailed by same sender last month.
DOTr, manages MRT-3, activated inter-agency task force composed of its Office for Transportation Security, Department of Information and Communications Technology Cybercrime Investigation Coordinating Center, Philippine National Police and Railway Security.
Officials of these agencies, including those from Quezon City Police District, inspected MRT-3's North Avenue station "to assess and ensure safety and security of MRT-3 system for its continued operation."
"Task force assured public all actions are being taken to ensure safe and secure travel in all public transport systems," MRT-3 said.
Before 6 in the evening MRT-3 reported it "has not detected any trace of any items that might constitute threat to traveling public."
Rail line called on public to report any suspicious activities to authorities.
Almost 23 years ago, bomb blast at Light Railway Transit Line 1's Blumentritt station on Rizal Day left 22 people dead.
