By J.Lo
"If PWD does not qualify as registered voter due to disability or he or she is minor, his or her parents or legal guardian must be registered voters in city of Manila," city council of Manila has passed ordinance that will allocate monthly allowance from city government to persons with disability who are below 18 years old.
City council passed on third and final reading Ordinance 8534, which amends Ordinances 8565 and 8756.
Latest ordinance was filed by District 3 Councilor Pamela Fugoso-Pacscual.
Two local laws mandate city government to give P500 monthly allowance to senior citizens, PWDs and solo parents who are bona fide residents of Manila.
District 3 Councilor Ernesto Isip Jr., city council's majority floor leader, noted that those qualified for monthly allowance are young PWDs who "must be registered voter of City of Manila."
City council has yet to publish copy of the new ordinance.
