PMAP awards 'The Chiefs,' TV5

11th Professional Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Makatao Awards for Media Excellence has lauded four hosts of One News' "The Chiefs" have been named as Best TV Public Affairs Program Hosts.
News5 chief Luchi Cruz Valdes, Philippine Star editor-in-chief Ana Marie Pamintuan and fellow veteran journalists Ed Lingao and Roby Alampay received recognition in ceremonies held at Luzon Ballroom of Sofitel Philippines Plaza Manila in Pasay City.
Last year, "The Chiefs" won Best Public Affairs Program.
Valdes, Pamintuan, Lingao and Alampay were among Cignal TV programs and news personalities recognized by PMAP for its annual media awards.
This year, "Woman in Action," also aired on One News, was chosen as Best Public Affairs Show. Show host Gretchen Ho received award during yesterday's event.
"Frontline Tonight" won this year's award for Best Newscast. Lingao, one of program's hosts, accepted award for News5.
PMAP also recognized other Kapatid (TV5) programs and personalities by nominating them in key categories.
Anchors of Cignal's election program "Short Take" were nominated as best public affairs show hosts.
Lingao, Patrick Paez, Manny Mogato, Regina Hing and Jove Francisco were finalists together with "The Chiefs" hosts.
Cignal TV news anchors Cheryl Cosim and Jay Taruc were nominated as best newscasters.
PMAP Makatao Awards honor various people and members of mass media for their outstanding contributions to enhancing public understanding of role and impact of good people management.
Before awarding ceremonies, PMAP paid tribute to veteran broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez, who passed away last Tuesday. Journalists from GMA Network, led by Arnold Clavio and Atom Araullo, joined other media members from print, radio and TV in offering prayer for "Baby Mike."
