113 people homeless as wall collapsed in Valenzuela

VALENZUELA government is looking into wall collapse in both Barangay Mapulang Lupa and Ugong. Probers said person was wounded and 28 families or 113 people lost their homes after wall collapsed after days of continuous rains caused by Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
Injured individual was brought to hospital for orthopedic treatment.
Of the affected families, 17 were from Barangays Mapulang Lupa and 11 from Barangay Ugong.
At least eight homes were destroyed due to wall collapse.
Residents said that as early as 7 in the morning, they felt wall was unsteady before it collapsed after two hours and destroyed houses.
Continuous rains saturated soil in the area is one of the factors caused wall collapse.
Big tree initially collapsed which triggered collapse of surrounding houses, according to separate report.
Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja appealed to residents not to go back to their homes yet until it is safe to do so.
Department of Social Welfare and Development and local government unit provided assistance to victims.
City Engineering Office will assess if it is still safe for residents to build their houses in the area.
