Tangle Twice

First of all, don't bother with my outfit. Let's not even go there. It's giving cringe vibes I don't know what the heck I was thinking.

Tibetan bead necklace, anyone?

So, yeah... remember when I went to Tangle last January and it was rainy as but not too rainy as for the organisers to cancel the event so it wasn't exactly a no-go if you were game enough to put up with the weather and still get your money and your day off's worth?

Well, I went again three days after that. This time, with my friend, Raheela, and her kids. In between sending each other memes on a regular basis to acknowledge bad Bollywood videos and each other's existence, we manage to actually catch up with each other in person somehow. I don't know how we conjure those miraculous occasions but bored kids and desperate parents during school holidays help turn those plans into reality.

She's an absolute cracker, that woman. For some unknown reason, I feel like she's making it her personal mission to orientate me to Indian Superman, Spiderwoman, and Batman. All of them breaking out into a dance at some point.

One morning, I woke up to a music video she sent me called "Dream Girl" by a Mr. Rajkumar Thakuria. The rest of the day, I was singing dim gaal, dim gaal, dim gaal in my head.

Bloody hell.

Tangle was actually a beautiful concept. I only got to appreciate it when I saw the complicated web of colours and elastics that was the product of one week's worth of people's participation and involvement. It was sort of like a performance art, where everyone was an artist contributing to the ever-growing, ever-changing final abstract.

At the end of the event, the Polyglot artists asked everyone to sit or lie down and simply observe what they had created above and around them. Sitting underneath the colorful canopy, I almost broke my neck looking up in awe and feeling the solemnity of that moment of requested silence.

It made me realise how connected we all are and how, together, we weave into each other's lives to create a beautiful complex world whether we are conscious of it or not.

And so it is with my friendship with Raheela, that crazy woman. We may not see each other all the time but I know she lives just down the road and that she's only one meme away.

Cheers to more biryanis, Afghan charcoal kebabs, and Chamman's ice cream!
