As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Jeff is so much like his dad in so many ways. They're both very smart and very into engineering stuff that they know exactly what the other's talking about when it comes to machines while I sit there thinking about the boob job his half-brother had and how she looks so gorgeous in her photos.
They hosted dinner for us last June, in their new home which happened to be in the same town as my mom's so we had a scenic tricycle ride to get there. Along the way, I shared with Jeff my memories of the place -- how we used to have a little hut by the beach we were passing by; how my uncle had once built a floating raft made of PVC pipes with a bicycle(?) installed to steer it; how it became like a big Sunday family outing spent with family, friends, and relatives. In turn, he shared memories he had of his dad and how it was hard for him growing up without a father figure.
It was really nice to watch Jeff rekindle his relationship with his dad. They rarely get to see or talk to each other so I was happy to be a witness to such a reunion. As a family man himself now, I feel like Jeff's in a better, more stable mindset to understand and accept the past for what it's worth.
Jeff's other half-brother, Ian aka Princess Nichole, was so funny I wished she was my bestfriend. I loved her straight away. Such a good vibe.
Everything about that short night was, actually.
Until next time.
