Abegail Rait addressed the flak she and her daughter, Gaile Francesca, have been receiving since they claimed their relationship to Francis Magalona.
In a 15-minute vlog uploaded on YouTube, Abegail explained her side of the story.
"Okay lang po sa'kin na ako na ang pinakamasamang tao sa paningin niyo. Homewrecker, kabit, mistress, lahat na ng adjective na nagamit niyo, tanggap ko po. Pero ang pinakikiusap ko lang po sana, wag naman 'yung anak ko," she said, adding that it was "unfair" that people were using them as clickbait online.
"Aminado po ako, tao lang ako. Nagkakamali, nasasaktan, pero imbis na iiyak ko, pinapakita ko sa anak ko na kaya ko siyang ipagtanggol. Sana po maintindihan niyo ako bilang ina na nagsasalita para sa kanyang anak," she added.
She called those who were sending them messages to say "harsh things," telling them it was "too much."
Abegail then explained that they sold the jersey to support Francesca's showbiz journey.
"Kung kani-kanino lang kami nanghihiram ng masasakyan. That's when I talked to Chesca if she will allow to convert funds and put the jersey to a museum to preserve para na rin to pursue career and save some as the only amount she gained from her father. And I know he would do the same to support," she said.
"Para sa kalinawan po ng lahat, wala po akong pinaglalaban. Nagkataon lang na nagbenta ako ng jersey ni Kiko para suportahan ang karerang tinatahak ng anak niya," she added. "Ordinaryong bata lang po si Chesca na napakadaming pangarap. Mag-isa lang po akong sumusuporta sa kaniya with my mom at walang magulang ang hindi kayang gawin ang lahat para sa anak niya."
Abegail also apologized to the late rapper's first family.
"Sa lahat po ng nasaktan, sa pamilya po ni Kiko, humihingi po ako ng dispensa sa lahat ng kaguluhang 'to. Hindi ko po ipinagmamalaki ang naging kasalanan ko, pero tao lang po ako," she said. "Kung mali man po ang paglantad naming mag-ina, I'm sorry."
She said she got pregnant and soon gave birth when Francis M was ill.
By the time Francis M was released from hospital confinement, Francesca was two months old.
"Then, 'di na siya nakalabas pa. Araw-araw po, ako ang kausap niya. Gusto ko pong pumunta pero ayaw ko na pong dagdagan," Abegail said, adding that they were present at his funeral.
She then added that Francis told her that he was already single when they got together.
"Kung kabit po ako at nanira ng pamilya, sana may maglakas ng loob na sabihin na wala na sila ni Pia nung dumating ako sa buhay niya," she said.
"Dalaga po ako nu'ng maging kami ni Kiko. Wala na po siya sa family residence nila for years. And, wala po akong na-violate na batas sa Pilipinas dahil single po ang marital status ng partner ko hanggang sa kinamatayan niya," she added.
She ended her video by asking for respect.
"Wala po akong hinahabol. Masyado nang matagal ang mga nangyari. We're not expecting approval or acceptance, but respect," she said.
Abegail and Francesca claimed their relationship to the late rapper in a vlog published by Boss Toyo Production, which received mixed reactions from netizens.
Some sympathized with them, while others said they felt sorry for Francis M's wife, Pia Magalona, and their family.
