In a recent maritime incident, US Navy helicopters successfully repelled an attack by Iranian-backed Houthi militants in the southern Red Sea. The attack targeted a merchant vessel, the Maersk Hangzhou. Helicopters from the USS Eisenhower and USS Gravely were dispatched in response to distress calls from the vessel.
They engaged the Houthi boats, sinking three of the four attacking vessels in self-defense. The fourth boat managed to escape from the area. This decisive action by the US Navy helicopters underlines the ongoing tensions and security concerns in this strategic maritime region.
