A new medicine is on the works with Makiling.
The upcoming series stars Elle Villanueva and Derrick Monasterio, alongside Kristoffer Martin, Myrtle Sarrosa, Royce Cabrera, Teejay Marquez and Claire Castro, comprising the Crazy 5. Elle and Derrick were first paired in Return to Paradise.
Makiling tells the story of Amira (Elle), who comes from a family of herbal healers who live at the foot of Mt. Makiling. Desperate to help pay off her family's debts, she decides to work in a school in Manila, where she becomes the unfortunate target of a group of rich, powerful, and sadistic bullies called the 'Crazy 5' led by Seb (Kristoffer) and Portia (Myrtle), Terra siblings who are descendants of a giant pharmaceutical company. Amira's life takes a turn when she and Alex (Derrick) discover a mysterious flower with powerful healing properties in the forests of Makiling called the Mutya. Amira wants to use the Mutya as a formula for her medicine to be given for free, but this will earn the ire of the Terras.
Joining the powerhouse cast of Makiling are Mon Confiado, Bernadette Allyson-Estrada, Richard Quan, Cris Villanueva, Lui Manansala, Andrea Del Rosario and Lotlot de Leon. The series, which is produced by GMA Public Affairs, is directed by Conrado Peru.
The series will pay homage to herbal products and how they're created. Starting this Monday, it will be an interesting ride for afternoon viewers as they will witness a person from the rural area and her discovery of a plant for her medicine in Makiling.
