"Rewind," starring the celebrated Kapuso Primetime King and Queen, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, has officially etched its name in cinematic history as the highest-grossing Filipino film to date. Amassing a staggering P889 million in worldwide box office sales, the film has eclipsed the previous record set by Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo's 2019 hit "Hello, Love, Goodbye," which garnered P880 million globally.
Star Cinema, part of the triumvirate behind "Rewind" alongside APT Entertainment and Agosto Dos Media, confirmed the film's monumental achievement. Notably, the movie had previously clinched the title of the highest-grossing Filipino film in domestic sales, a distinction once held by "Hello, Love, Goodbye."
Now in its fifth week, "Rewind" continues to captivate audiences, being featured in over 270 cinemas across a global landscape, including the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Guam, and Saipan.
Directed by the acclaimed Mae Cruz-Alviar, "Rewind" marks a significant milestone in the careers of Dantes and Rivera, reuniting them on the silver screen for the first time since their 2010 release, "You to Me Are Everything."
As "Rewind" rewrites records and captures hearts, it cements its status not just as a box-office success but as a landmark in Philippine cinema.
