A magnitude 5.1 quake just hit Hinatuan in the province of Surigao del Sur today at 9:11 a.m. according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The epicenter was located at 32 kilometers southeast of Hinatuan town.
It had a depth of 10 kilometers and was tectonic in origin based on the data from PHIVOLCS.
The following intensities have been recorded from the following areas:
Intensity V - City of Bislig and Hinatuan, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity III- City of Tandag and Lingig, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity II- Tagbina, Lianga, Bayabas, and Cagwait, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Phivolcs expects no aftershocks and that there were no reports of damages.
