In a homily, the priest shared one beautiful message about why the cross is the symbol of Christianity. He said, the heart stops beating but the man on the cross does not stop loving. He continued, "Then there's also heart-cross. Inside the heart is the cross. The heart symbolizes God's love through the cross, a saving, sacrificial, self-emptying, self-love."
As the lyrics of one of my favorite song from Feast Worship goes,
"Oh the closest I have
That can measure your love
Is the distance Your arms stretched wide
Upon that cross"
Stretched wide love for you and me so that everyone will not just be saved but have eternal life. The cross serves as a reminder of His selfless love, the greatest love of all.
The Gospel said that you're not just loved, you have always been loved.
Happy Easter! He has risen! 💓
Love,
A
