A Medical Horary In Hindsight: Is This Cancer?

I dedicate this blog post to a friend who succumbed to the disease. Wayback October of last year, she asked me (through messenger as we live far apart) what horary astrology says about her health care provider's initial diagnosis that she has cancer with metastasis in the liver. She has long suffered from back pain and had a history of unremoved breast lump, but at that point, it was extremely unbearable, so she went to the hospital for consultation. Upon asking, there are no diagnostic procedures done to confirm the diagnosis; hence, she wants to determine the probability of the diagnosis as being likely. Below is the chart cast upon receiving her question.

Considerations

The Ascendant, its ruler and the Moon, its ruler, are the accidental and the natural significators of the populace.
The Sixth House and its ruler are the accidental significators of the disease.

Judgment

Gemini is rising in the hour of Venus. Interestingly, Venus rules the twelfth house of hospitals, and the querent asked it when she was in the hospital. The Moon, not void-of-course, and the Ascendant, not in late degrees, are testimonies suggesting it is safe to interpret the chart. Mercury, the ruler of the Ascendant in the fifth house, and the ruler of the sixth house in the fifth house opposing Jupiter, are descriptive of her question about the doctor's initial diagnosis of breast cancer with metastasis.

My first impression about the condition of the querent's significators (i.e., Mercury and the Moon) is extremely bad. Looking at Mercury, we see the case of a classical malevolent besiegement. Mercury here is in an out-of-sign combustion as it is separating from the fallen Sun in Libra. There is no relief from the affliction as it is applying by trine to the retrograde Saturn in Pisces (the accidental ruler of the eighth house of death) with negative reception, wherein Saturn is in the fall and detriment of Mercury; it will also conjunct with Mars, the ruler of the sixth house and the exaltation ruler of the eighth house. The combustion and enclosure by the malefics of the accidental significator of the querent is an ominous testimony.

I have assessed the condition of the Moon, as the querent's natural significator, where she is in the eighth house. In my head, she may have thought of her mortality (of which she asked about weeks before her death). Similar to Mercury, we also see Saturn and Mars enclosing the Moon. The Moon's application to Mars (the accidental significator of the disease and as the exaltation ruler of the eighth house of death) with negative reception is the second testimony of the disease being extremely dangerous.

Regarding the severity of the disease, I have looked at the sixth house and its ruler. Mars rules the sixth house and we see him extremely powerful in Scorpio in the fifth house. The essential dignity of Mars shows the severity and aggressiveness of the disease. Its opposition to Jupiter is a testimony of its spread to the liver.

From the testimonies above, I told her that while I cannot say with certainty that it is cancer (from the lack of laboratory and diagnostic test results as a context); she has to treat her health condition as an emergency as the chart shows it is extremely dangerous and that it needs an urgent medical attention. Advising as a nurse, she needs to ask her health care provider to have her laboratory and diagnostic tests done as soon as possible and seek a medical opinion from different specialists, so that she can start (and explore alternative) treatment in the earliest time frame. From the application of Mars to Jupiter, I informed her liver indeed may have a severe problem (but it could also be from a severe inflammation), and she needs to seek medical attention in that regard.

Result

In late December 2023, she was confined to the hospital because of the unbearable pain. As per our common friend, there was indeed a metastasis to her liver and that the tumor has also spread to her spine and brain (also seen as Mercury and the Moon's aspect with the malefics), leaving her in a coma and having seizures. On January 15 of this year, she succumbed to the disease. It is interesting to note that the malefics prohibited Mercury's aspect with Jupiter (as the accidental significator of the treatment and the physician). In her case, the prohibition manifested as there were no tests and treatment done to address the cancer because of the severity and the aggressiveness of the disease.
