The rich cultural tapestry of Iloilo City boasts over 10 captivating museums waiting to be explored. During our brief stay, we purposefully immersed ourselves in the experience of 4 of them, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to delve into the remaining museums during our next visit. Here are our Top 4 in no particular order.
1.) National Museum of the Philippines- Western Visayas
The National Museum of the Philippines Western Visayas offers a diverse array of artifacts, artworks, and historical treasures explaining the ancient and cultural roots of Western Visayan people. Some of the most interesting items we discovered are the Oton Gold Death Masks, Ancient Penis Rings and Western Visayan Fabrics. (Swipe below photo for more pictures)
2.) Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA)
The Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art offers awe-inspiring collections of modern artistic expressions. During our visit, we opted to stay in Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo as this hotel is very near ILOMOCA. (Swipe below photo for more pictures)
3.) Brandy Museum
The Brandy Museum in Iloilo is the only brandy museum in the Philippines. The museum narrates the history of brandy, the process of making it and the various brandy brands in the world. 4.) Museo Iloilo
The Museo Iloilo houses an impressive collection of art that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region. Visitors can marvel at the intricate craftsmanship of traditional Panay Bukidnon textiles, which are adorned with vibrant patterns and symbols that represent their indigenous beliefs and way of life. Looking forward to visit in the future the Museum of Philippine Maritime History, Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage and the Museum of Philippine Economic History.
