A Philippine Eagle, critically endangered and revered as a national symbol, was recently rescued in Kabugao, Apayao, after being ensnared in a trap intended for wild boars. The injured eagle, discovered by a local farmer, was transported to the City Veterinary Office in Laoag for urgent medical attention. Upon examination, the eagle was found to have been shot with airgun pellets, adding to its dire condition.
Veterinary experts anticipate a recovery period of two to three months for the eagle, after which plans are in place to reintroduce it to its natural habitat.
