Yexel Sebastian, a Filipino vlogger and toy enthusiast, has asserted his innocence in the face of allegations involving a P50 billion scam. Facing a syndicated estafa complaint lodged by 30 individuals at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Sebastian contends that he and his partner, Mikee Agustin, are themselves victims of the fraud.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Sebastian reiterated that they had not deceived anyone, describing their situation as unfortunate and beyond their control. He expressed his inability to assist the alleged victims, stating that they are also trying to recover lost funds and are currently abroad, navigating their predicament.
The controversy surrounding Sebastian escalated following a "24 Oras" news report that highlighted his involvement in a junket investment scam and a potential breach of the Securities Regulation Code. According to NBI's fraud and financial crimes division head, lawyer Palmer Mallari, the content creator is accused of absconding with P50 billion, with victims reportedly misled into believing they were offering loans rather than making investments.
The scandal first surfaced in 2023 when several individuals accused Sebastian and his partner of participating in the investment scam, leading to their subsequent departure to Japan following the legal action. Sebastian, also recognized for owning the "largest Optimus Prime bust in Asia," and being the sibling of the late YouTuber Jam Sebastian, now faces severe legal challenges.
