A fire outbreak at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 parking extension resulted in damage to approximately 19 vehicles on Monday. The incident, which occurred amid soaring temperatures reported across parts of the country, did not disrupt airport operations, according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).
The Pasay Fire Bureau is currently investigating the cause of the blaze, as confirmed by a report from Nimfa Ravelo on Super Radyo dzBB. Authorities are also assessing potential injuries resulting from the incident. MIAA General Manager Eric Ines clarified that while the affected property is owned by MIAA, it is currently under lease.
This event took place against a backdrop of dangerously high heat index levels, with PAGASA noting that some areas might experience temperatures rising between 42°C and 45°C. The high temperatures are being considered as a possible factor in the ignition of the fire.
As investigations continue, further details are awaited to determine the full impact of the fire and measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
