Scorecard
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) highlighted its partnership with the UNESCO Office in Jakarta at the United Nations S&T Global Cooperation Exhibit in Switzerland. The exhibition featured the Social and Human Sciences, Education, Culture, Communication, and Information (SECCI) for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Scorecard and the Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation (SETI) for SDGs Scorecards.
DOST said the SETI and SECCI for SDGs Scorecard are developed by the DOST Regional Office XI, Hydrology for Environment, Life, and Policy (HELP) Davao Network in cooperation with the UNESCO Office in Jakarta.
The Scorecards, it said, were designed to assist governments, funding institutions, implementers, researchers, students, and stakeholders in evaluating proposals, ongoing projects, or completed initiatives. It aims to enhance the global community's commitment to achieving the SDGs by assessing relevance and impact.
The SECCI for SDGs Scorecard builds upon the success of the SETI for SDG Scorecard developed in 2018. This new tool measures contributions from science, engineering, technology, and innovation, as well as social and human sciences, education, culture, communication, and information towards achieving SDG targets and indicators.
A key aspect of the Scorecard's development involved forging strong partnerships with various stakeholders, termed the "penta helix," which includes government, industry, academia, civil society, and the media. Local tests were conducted in Davao City to ensure the effectiveness and adaptability of the Scorecard to local programs and projects.
The exhibit, guided by the priority theme "Global cooperation on science, technology, and innovation for development," featured impactful innovations from seventeen exhibitors, including CSTD Member States, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other entities engaged in international science, technology, and innovation cooperation.
This effort underscores the Philippines' commitment to harnessing scientific and technological advancements to drive progress towards the SDGs, reflecting a broader global agenda for sustainable development and cooperation in science and technology. (DOST-XI)
