iVolunteer kicked-off it's 15th year this 2024 with a change of leadership with Judith Apolinario-Follero now appointed as its new Executive Director
In the first quarter, iVolunteer has recorded 2,472 Filipinos volunteering from its website, volunteer ambassadors and corporate network. From its website, 1208 have signed-up which translates to 6,479 volunteer hours being shared to various communities. 19 NGOs have been actively engaging volunteers with a total of 173 volunteering opportunities. This is 50% more volunteer events opened to volunteers compared to the first quarter of 2023 which resulted in increased volunteer participation and logged volunteer hours. This is the 3rd highest number of participants and the 2nd highest amount of logged volunteer hours in a quarter in the past ten years of iVolunteer. This is also attributed to the effort the organization in engaging more volunteers through social media and events and improving the overall volunteering experience.
Few treasure volunteering opportunities were opened in first quarter and together Php 11,500 was donated to to the needs of the affected families in the recent fire in Tondo, Manila.
iVolunteer also invests on other strategies to develop volunteers. Its 3rd Social Innovation Challenge concluded in February with John Rey Remadavia as the Top Innovator amongst 6 finalists.
The organization has also doubled down on its efforts to attract more volunteers from corporations through 4 bespoke corporate volunteer activities and learning sessions. Insular Foundation, RareJob, and Enshored were able to engage 175 employees to volunteer.
Behind the scenes, partnership with various nonprofits is stronger than ever as seen in the most recent Partner Appreciation Night held in Februacy which was attended by 25 nonprofits in various advocacies. During this event, iVolunteer Philippines and Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency have signed a memorandum of agreement to work together and share resources in encouraging more Filipinos to volunteer.
In Mindanao, the projectors raised from iVolunTree for Christmas 2023 was handed over to Mandaris Volunteer Program and will be used by their teachers volunteers to improve the quality of education in the Bangsamoro areas of the Philippines; and Media Educators of Mindanao which will be used to bring film education to schools and communities where there is no access to proper audio-visual equipment.
iVolunteer Philippines have also received recognition and appreciation from Binhi English Literacy Foundation in being one of its long time partners in enabling its programs through volunteers.
With all numbers trending towards the positive, iVolunteer Philippines is looking forward to a strong 2024 finish.
