The ILPS Commission 10 stands in solidarity with the people of Kanaky in their struggle for freedom and self-determination. The colonial occupation of New Caledonia by France represents a blatant exploitation and suppression of Indigenous Kanaky's rights and ways of life. Kanaky will be free!
Liberation from colonial domination is key in achieving social justice and dismantling the global imperialist system that is the root of Indigenous Peoples' oppression and inequality.
We call on everyone to stand with Kanaky's independence. Their struggle is not just a Pacific or Indo-Pacific concern but also a vital blow against colonial and capitalist exploitation of France and its imperialist allies.
The French manipulation of its own repressive and colonial laws to derail the decolonization process of the indigenous Kanaky shows their desperation to continue the extortion of Kanaky New Caledonia's land and people.
What the UN decolonization process and the world can not deny is the legitimacy and justness of the Kanaky Indigenous Peoples struggle for liberation. This is the fruit of their decades and centuries of resistance from slavery, massacres up to the present marginalization, oppression and discrimination.
Amid the growing repression and challenges the Kanaky peoples face, let us stand with their resolve to mobilize and organize, and march forward until their rights as free peoples enjoying the fruit of their land and resources, and as distinct and sovereign Indigenous Peoples is realized.
Kanaky must be free to determine its own destiny!
