The battle between the herbal healers and the Crazy 5 in Makiling are coming to an end this Friday.
First aired on January 8, Makiling stars Elle Villanueva and Derrick Monasterio, alongside Kristoffer Martin, Myrtle Sarrosa, Royce Cabrera, Teejay Marquez and Claire Castro, comprising the Crazy 5. Makiling involves the life of Amira (Elle) and her discovery of a mysterious flower with powerful healing properties in the forests of Makiling called the Mutya, which will earn the ire of the Terras and the Crazy 5.
The series performed well, averaging within 7-9% (based on AGB Nielsen NUTAM) throughout its entire run. The series will have a total of 83 episodes by Friday.
Makiling managed to showcase herbal medicines, its origins and impact to people, as well as the corruption behind certain pharmaceutical companies and the conflict within its family's descendants. All the cast gave a good account of themselves in their respective roles.
As Makiling reaches its end, one can only hope that the discovery of the Mutya will benefit the people in need and not the greed.
