Meryll Soriano and Joem Bascon made their first joint appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," where they opened up about their rekindled relationship and Meryll's struggle with bipolar disorder.
During Thursday's episode, Meryll shared her appreciation for Joem's understanding and support. "Of everybody in my life, Joem is one of the few who truly understands me and my bipolar disorder," she said, adding that he often understands her better than she understands herself.
Meryll emphasized the importance of being transparent and honest about her condition with Joem, stating, "I told him 'this is me.' All cards on the table. This is what I want to change in myself. I know during our time before, I didn't really care. But I have changed."
Diagnosed with bipolar disorder for 17 years, Meryll discussed her ongoing commitment to managing her condition through regular doctor visits and medication. She reflected on her journey to acceptance, which took until her 30s.
Meryll and Joem first dated in 2008, splitting a year later. They were rumored to have rekindled their relationship in 2019, and in January 2021, Meryll confirmed their reunion by posting a family photo with their newborn child. Last August, Meryll called Joem her "forever partner" in a heartfelt Instagram post.
Bipolar disorder is a mental illness characterized by extreme mood swings, affecting energy levels, sleep, thinking, and behavior, according to WebMD.
