Bianca Umali and Ruru Madrid, celebrating their sixth anniversary next month, opened up about navigating the ups and downs of their relationship.
In Thursday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Bianca described their six-year journey as "one heck of a ride," noting that each year brings its own set of challenges.
"That's the reality of every relationship. No relationship is perfect, and we're proud of all the imperfections we've faced because Ruru and I know the path we've taken to become this strong," Bianca shared.
Ruru attributed their resilience to their faith, emphasizing that they pray every night, regardless of their circumstances.
Bianca added, "We always express our frustrations to Him before we talk things over between ourselves."
Reflecting on their first two years, they recalled numerous struggles, including a controversial incident in a parking lot during their first year. By their second year, they faced the repercussions of those early challenges, leading to a pivotal decision about staying together.
"That's when we truly measured our love for each other," Bianca said.
Their relationship and careers began to flourish in the following years. In their third year, Bianca converted to Ruru's religion, and in the fourth year, they collaborated on their first project, "The Write One."
"We've learned so much, not just about our relationship but also about our careers. We've gained a better understanding of the business and how to sustain ourselves in this industry," Ruru explained.
Bianca highlighted their fifth year as a "breakthrough year," with Ruru securing the role in "Black Rider" and Bianca working on "Mananambal" and "Sang'gre."
"It's heartwarming because, whether together or apart, Ruru and I are thriving in our personal and professional lives. We love that our relationship isn't left behind," Bianca expressed.
Last year, the couple celebrated their fifth anniversary with heartfelt social media posts for each other.
