A Chinese national, allegedly a manager of a raided POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) hub in Porac, Pampanga, was arrested during a search warrant operation in a Clark leisure park on Thursday, according to the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
During a press briefing, CIDG Chief Police Major General Leo Francisco reported that 14 safety vaults were seized from five villas in the area. "So the result of the implementation of the search warrant was the confiscation of 14 safety vaults in the five villas that we have searched last night," Francisco said.
The arrested Chinese national, described as one of the "big bosses" at the Porac POGO hub, is currently under investigation and has been handed over to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) for questioning. Francisco noted that the investigation is ongoing and that authorities are seeking additional individuals linked to illegal POGO operations in Porac and Bamban, Tarlac.
Charges of human trafficking, physical injury, and violations of the Access Devices Regulation Act will be filed against the suspect, Francisco added.
The crackdown on illegal POGO activities has led perpetrators to shift to smaller-scale operations. Earlier this month, authorities raided the POGO hub in Porac, rescuing 158 foreign nationals and uncovering evidence of torture and kidnapping. In March, a raid on a POGO hub in Bamban, Tarlac, resulted in the rescue of over 800 Filipinos and foreign nationals who were victims of alleged crypto and love scams, human trafficking, and illegal detention.
