Senator Sherwin Gatchalian raised questions about the true identity of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, suggesting she might be the Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping.
During a Senate session on Tuesday, Gatchalian presented records from the Board of Investments related to the Guo family's application for a Special Investors Resident Visa (SIRV). These records indicated that Guo Hua Ping entered the Philippines on January 12, 2003, at the age of 13, and her registered birth date is August 31, 1990.
Gatchalian noted that Guo Hua Ping's registered mother for the SIRV is Lin Wenyi, whom he suspects might be the real mother of the mayor, rather than Alice Leal Guo. This discrepancy adds to the ongoing confusion surrounding Mayor Guo's background. Guo has previously stated that she is the love child of her father and their helper, Amelia, who abandoned her during childhood. However, the Philippine Statistics Authority has no birth records for Guo's parents.
DNA Test Challenge
In light of these inconsistencies, Gatchalian has challenged Guo to undergo a DNA test with Wen Yi Lin to verify her nationality. Senator Risa Hontiveros has also revealed documents indicating that Wen Yi Lin is an incorporator in Guo's businesses, which further complicates Guo's claims about her background.
Gatchalian believes these findings could strengthen a quo warranto case against Mayor Guo, potentially impacting her political career.
Senate Investigation
Alice Guo is currently at the center of a Senate investigation into a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) hub in Bamban, Tarlac. Documents suggest she was personally involved in processing operations for the hub. Questions about her citizenship have also been raised due to inconsistent testimonies and dubious documents purportedly proving her Filipino nationality.
GMA News Online has reached out to Guo for comment through her lawyer and the Bamban public information office, but has not yet received a response.
