Maja Salvador recently opened up about the challenging birth of her daughter, Baby Maria. The actress and host detailed her "intense" 30-hour labor experience in Canada on Instagram, describing the ordeal as "2 hours without epidural, three hours of pushing," which culminated in an episiotomy and the use of forceps.
"Two contractions and seven pushes later, we finally welcomed our baby Maria," Maja recounted.
Despite managing to have 10 minutes of skin-to-skin contact with her newborn, Maja faced a serious complication: uterine inversion. This emergency situation led to significant blood loss, causing her blood pressure to plummet to 60/40. Maja's doula warned her that she might need to undergo surgery if the situation didn't improve.
"That time, I told myself I couldn't do anything anymore... ubos na ubos na lakas ko... I started praying Hail Mary... repeating it even though I had no strength left. Miraculously, after their last attempt, one of the OB GYNs succeeded in repositioning my uterus. AMEN!!!!" she shared.
Maja expressed immense gratitude for the care she received, particularly from the Filipino nurses who provided unwavering support. She is now recovering and cherishing her time with her family in Canada.
"To My Husband, I LOVE YOU," she wrote. "To My Maria, EVERYTHING IS WORTH IT! I LOVE YOU ANAK."
Maja announced the birth of her first child, Maria, on May 31. Her husband, Rambo Nunez, shared his appreciation for Maja on social media following the birth. The family was discharged from the hospital on June 5.
Earlier in May, Maja celebrated Mother's Day while 37 weeks pregnant, with Rambo surprising her with a pot filled with pink and white roses.
