The University of the Philippines (UP) Office of the President (OP), in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs - Office of Student Development Services (OSDS) and the UP Diliman College of Music, will be holding the culmination of the Hamon ng Himig Program 2024. This much-anticipated event will take place on July 30, 2024, at the IBG KAL theater, Magsaysay Avenue, Roces St, University of the Philippines Diliman, beginning at 9:00 AM.
The Hamon ng Himig Program 2024 is a comprehensive music tutoring initiative aimed at providing free musical training to UP students. Specifically focusing on beginner guitar playing and choir singing, the program recognizes the profound impact of music on emotional and cognitive well-being. It aims to create a supportive environment where students can explore their musical talents, find solace, and enhance their overall well-being and holistic development.
The culminating activity will feature captivating musical performances by all the participants of Hamon ng Himig 2024 from across the nine constituent universities of UP. In addition, eighty (80) exceptional students from UP Manila, UP Los Baños, and UP Diliman will deliver live performances that showcase the diversity and unity of musical talents across the University of the Philippines System.
This initiative not only celebrates the successful completion of the Hamon ng Himig Program but also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that emphasize the significance of music programs for student development and well-being.
By bringing together musicians and singers from the UP community, the culminating activity aims to foster an atmosphere of friendly competition and camaraderie. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their skills, learn from one another, and forge lasting connections.
